About USAPI

The United States American Pacific Islands (USAPI) encompass a collection of territories and freely associated states located in the Pacific Ocean, including Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. These islands are situated south of Hawaii and west of the United States mainland. The USAPI is home to diverse cultural groups, with rich traditions and languages unique to each island community. Despite their idyllic settings, the USAPI faces significant public health challenges, including a high prevalence of tuberculosis (TB). TB rates in the USAPI are among the highest in the US-affiliated jurisdictions, often exacerbated by limited healthcare infrastructure and resources. Concerted efforts are ongoing to address and mitigate the spread of TB in these regions.
