TB Nurse Case Management Level 1
Format: Virtual Time Allocation: 14 hours
Pre-requisite: Learners should have a fundamental understanding of tuberculosis, including TB transmission and pathogenesis.
Description: This course equips nurses new to TB case management with a strong foundational understanding of the principles, practices, and responsibilities necessary to effectively manage patients with tuberculosis. By building essential knowledge and skills, participants will gain the confidence and competence to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care that supports optimal treatment outcomes and public health goals. Learning Objectives:
- Identify the key components of an initial TB assessment
- Examine documentation activities
- Determine the beginning and ending of the infectious period
- Summarize the guidelines for isolation
- Interpret TB diagnostic tests
- Determine when follow-up tests are needed during TB treatment
- Examine the components of an individualized TB care plan
- Implement strategies to manage and mitigate adverse drug reactions
- Summarize TB reporting requirements
- Differentiate between high-priority and low-priority contacts
- Analyze common barriers to TB treatment adherence
- Describe strategies to enhance TB adherence
- Identify key strategies for fostering collaboration between public health and private healthcare providers in TB case management
- Examine strategies for supporting patient understanding and adherence
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of nurses in managing TB treatment
