Course Description
This conference provides healthcare professionals with the latest insights on tuberculosis (TB), including screening, diagnosis, and treatment of active TB and latent TB infection (LTBI). Didactic lectures cover pediatric and adult populations, clinical updates, diagnostic advancements, and treatment strategies. Attendees explore cutting-edge research, emerging therapies, and innovative approaches to improve patient adherence and outcomes in TB management.
Target Audience
This course is intended for allied health professionals, nurses, physicians, residents/fellows, pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, public health and infectious disease MDs, RNs, Pharm.Ds., public health professionals, and laboratory technologists.
Learning Objectives
- Apply current TB guidelines across clinical and public health settings.
- Interpret TB diagnostics, including IGRA, NAAT, resistance testing, and imaging.
- Differentiate latent infection from active TB across age groups.
- Select evidence-based regimens for LTBI and drug-resistant TB.
- Identify risk factors for TB progression and poor outcomes.
- Use drug monitoring to optimize TB treatment and safety.
- Implement adherence strategies using DOT, VOT, and digital tools.
- Conduct contact investigations and outbreak response in congregate settings.
- Manage TB in older adults, HIV, and immunosuppressed populations.
- Apply case-based reasoning to complex TB care scenarios.
