Join the Mayo Clinic Center for Tuberculosis and the Tuberculosis Elimination Alliance as they examine the Kansas TB Outbreak to highlight how collaboration, trust-building, and aligned public health efforts can strengthen TB response and inform elimination work beyond a single jurisdiction.

Tuberculosis Elimination Alliance (TEA) is a national partnership of community-based partners and organizations dedicated to eliminating TB and latent TB infection among people at risk through education, raising awareness, and innovation.

Session Description

This session highlights the critical impact of community leadership and engagement during the Kansas TB outbreak. It showcases how grassroots initiatives—driven by trusted community partners and members—are essential for building trust, encouraging participation, and shaping an effective response.

The discussion also examines how state and local health departments, federal agencies, and national organizations complement community-led efforts to ensure successful TB testing, treatment, and ongoing care.

Speakers share practical lessons, locally informed strategies, and insights on strengthening partnerships between communities and government agencies—providing approaches that inform TB elimination efforts nationwide.
