Foundations in Tuberculosis Course
Format: Virtual | No-Cost
Time Allocation: The total time allocation for the course is 5 hours. This course is delivered as a virtual course consisting of a 1-hour kick-off meeting along with 4 hours of self-study tasks to complete.

Description: This introductory level course provides a foundational understanding of tuberculosis (TB) for individuals who are brand new to the topic. Participants will learn about the basics of TB, including its causes, symptoms, transmission, and prevention strategies. The course is designed to be accessible to beginners with no prior knowledge of TB.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the epidemiology, transmission, and pathogenesis of tuberculosis, and differentiate between latent TB infection and active TB disease.
- Describe the methods and importance of targeted testing, clinical evaluation, and laboratory diagnostics in diagnosing TB infection and disease.
- Identify appropriate treatment regimens for latent TB infection and active TB disease, including considerations for special populations and management of drug-resistant TB.
- Outline the key components of TB infection control measures, including administrative, environmental, and respiratory protection controls, to prevent the spread of TB.
- Define the roles and responsibilities of public health and private providers in the control and prevention of tuberculosis within the community.
Target Audience: Healthcare professionals with no or limited understanding of tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
