Rapid Response: Unique Considerations in Pediatric Tuberculosis (TB)

Page Content

Description

This webinar offers healthcare professionals an in-depth review of pediatric tuberculosis (TB) management. Participants will examine recent epidemiologic trends, including rising pediatric TB cases post-pandemic, and learn how clinical presentations vary by age—from subtle failure to thrive in infants to lymph node involvement in school-age children. The session covers diagnostic strategies such as prioritizing IGRAs over TST, interpreting chest X-rays for intrathoracic lymphadenopathy, and microbiologic sampling when needed. Treatment guidance includes higher per-kilogram dosing for children and shorter four-month regimens for non-severe TB.

Target Audience

This presentation is designed for rapid-response situations where healthcare teams need quick, essential TB information. It is designed for allied health professionals, nurses, physicians, physician assistants, residents, and other staff in public health or clinical settings.
