Expert Medical Consultation

MCCT has assembled a multi-disciplinary, multi-professional, and multi-institutional team of experts, including physicians (infectious diseases, pulmonology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, radiology), public health nurses, pharmacists, and microbiologists to work collaboratively to respond to the needs of public health and medical professionals within our region and provide timely consultation to complex cases.

Phone consultation requests are monitored by MCCT staff and the information is then forwarded to the consultant on duty for that week. Callers receive a response from the consultant within two business days.

IDCrowd is a new platform for submitting requests used by all TB COEs. If you are using IDCrowd for the first time, choose the option to register for a new membership.

Our Process

Faculty are assigned on a weekly rotation throughout the year to receive and respond to queries throughout the entire work week, during working hours (Monday-Friday, 8-5 pm CST). Queries are received through tbcenter@mayo.edu or MCCT.idcrowd.org or 507-284-0275.

The coordinator triages the inquiry and directs the question to the appropriate on-call consultant. The consultant receiving the query reviews the information, contacts the client for additional information (if necessary) to ensure a complete understanding of the case, writes and submits a written response back to the inquirer. Follow-up questions on a particular patient that are received subsequently are preferentially referred to the same consultant who completed the initial review and analysis to ensure and optimize continuity.
